What do you plan on doing?

This is for RL. I'd only like to hear from people who have NOT started college yet or who are currently in it.

I'm 13 and I just kinda felt like talking about what exactly I plan on doing when I'm older. I'd like to go to college and then vet school. Once I'm out of both (should be around 26 years old) I'd like to be able to settle down and get to where the money I have is at a very comfortable rate. I'd actually then like to open a non-profit, no-kill shelter.

I know it's probably unrealistic but I've always wanted to do this. In order to keep the funds coming in just to live and run the shelter I hope to either start my own small veterinary business within that shelter or simply continue working at one that pays a lot. Although I might just kind of have to be a vet at the shelter and hope for some good donations and rely on my partner.

Eh just kind of my hopes and dreams =p

I hope soon to be on a paid ambulance, and get paid to do what I love to do. I'm hoping to live down by the shore with a dog or two, my wonderful boyfriend (hopefully hubby by then! Lol), and perhaps 100 years down the road have a child or two. Nothing fancy :)

My aunt is a veterinary technician so she tells me all about the schooling and classes needed to get into vet school. Your plan is not unrealistic :) I once wanted to become a vet too! [I still do, but I've kind of leaned more into taxidermy.. which is kinda weird if you compare the two] I have a college guide book on the requirements on becoming a vet tech, but it doesn't get into if you want to become a veterinarian, but I will use it anyways. Please note that I live in Canada!! so if you live somewhere else, your requirements might vary based on location or what college you are trying to get into. Admission Requirements: - OSSD with the majority of courses at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level plus: - Grade 12 English - ENG4U, ENG4C, EAE4C, EAE4U - Grade 12 Math (C) or (U) - Senior Level Chemistry (C) or (U) - Senior Level Biology (C) or (U). Tons and tons and tons of people try to get into veterinary school and the schools are often over-subscribed. You will have to work very hard and put in a lot of time, effort and love for what you do to get into veterinary school. To be able to open up a shelter, you will have to put more time into learning about running that kind of operation.

Why not advice from those who have already entered college? :c I just started college, but I don't know a thing about what it takes to be a veterinarian. I would say that if you think your dream is reasonable, try to pursue it. Especially if you start this early in the game, you may just achieve it eventually through a different means than what you had intended based on circumstances.

I plan on going to college, getting like a PhD and getting a good job. I'd also like to move to Britain because I love British accents, British people, and most everyone who made that good '80s rock n' roll was British. But I don't see myself moving to Britain because of my family here in Texas. I do like Texas, however, so I might move up to the pan handle. I know for sure I'm not staying here in South Texas; it's way, way, WAY too hot. I'm talking we can cook eggs on the sidewalk hot... So basically, I don't have very much of a plan for my life at all, but I've got a few years; I'm only thirteen.

I don't think your plan is unrealistic. :) It'll probably change as the years go on, but if you're dedicated then I'm sure you can realize some form of that dream. It sounds like you already have some flexibility worked in, heh. I'm entering college this year, and I'm really excited. I'm majoring in Computer Science right now, and I hope to pick up a double major or minor in either Art or Interactive Media. This is because I love computers and the logic of programming, and I believe the career field will continue expanding in the foreseeable future. The art side is because I love drawing, sort of have talent for it, and there are plenty of opportunities to combine computer and art. People don't go for 8-bit games and generic website schemes anymore; artwork and graphic design are everywhere. I don't know how my relationships will work out. I certainly hope to have pets, both rodents and cats/dogs. Right now I don't foresee getting married, but my opinions could change. I do love kids, and adopting would be nice if I'm financially well off.
